The objective of the Conservation Lab at the Kendra is to maintain museum objects and restore art-works. It is well equipped with a special storage and a fumigation chamber. It carries out both preventive and curative conservation on the objects.

The Lab held a workshop in December 2004, based on Sanskriti's collection introducing new techniques of cleaning, washing, mending and lining. This workshop was held in conjunction with National Museum Institute, New Delhi.

In association with National Museum Institute, New Delhi and Institute of Heritage Management, the Lab plans to conduct four workshops on the themes of:

  • Terracotta Objects - Working Clay
  • Storage of Textiles
  • Wooden and Polychrome Objects
  • Metallic Objects
